2011 is upon is in 35 days

Time now to prepare for the holidays and festive season.

Time for reflection - how was 2010 for you?

Did you learn something? Did you teach someone?

Do you have plans for 2011? Are they awesome?

MY plans are awesome.

Time for mid-year review

Have you made progress with your goals? If not - why not?

What will you have to change - or are they not important?

Hold yourself accountable.

Surprise, surprise

My boss, prim and proper, very business like, sent me and a few others a funny email today. I'd seen it before but coming from him - - - really very funny. It surprised me, he actually has a humourous side too. Just when you think you know someone...

Colleagues from hell

Why are some people so pompous and self-important, yet everybody knows they are only breathing fire to cover up their own or their teams stuff-ups? It really gets to me. Some people really need to grow up. RED personalities are not condusive to proper problem resolution (they think they know everything). Anyway. I feel better now.

Determination

Sometimes you need a spark - or a combination of many little spark-lets - to actually get you to jump to action. All external prods and nudges are useless if you completely ignore them. Then, all of a sudden you have the drive and energy to do what you had planned to do - with a 5 month delay. But, as they say, better late than never.
The biggest task straight away is to help my husband focus on his fledgeling business (as I have a lot of money invested, as well as time and effort). Then I need to get cracking on my second goal and as time has started running out already, has now been 'upgraded' to a deadline-management project.

On a time-waster scale at the moment (i.e. time I'd like to use more productively) is:
traffic (3 hrs per day)
email, google reader and FB (2 hrs per day)
television (1 hr per day)

I hope that the GFIP (Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project) will be done ahead of schedule and surprise a lot of people, including myself... that would certainly help to save about 1-2 hrs per day. Cannot wait.

Oh yes, one more goal. I want to track my progress on this blog more regularly.

No blog post in almost 40 days and the reason is...

Hey,

I have not posted in quite a while for the following reason/s:

1. I could not think of any meaningful comments. This one is not really meaningful either.
2. I have been spending my free time with family and my current favourite books.
3. My brain is in overdrive to start my own business and therefor I have been doing some research.
4. I have done a Q1 2010 review as per Tom Peters and have started doing a Life Plan as per Pamela Slim. Valuable. Even more valuable if combined.
5. I have done a goal review for myself. And a refocus session is planned.

That's all folks.

Why is it that....

- we chase job promotions and make other people rich?
- we keep on studying to improve our prospects for better jobs?
- our parents kept on hammering on good exam results and a qualification when we were growing up?
- other people are dismissive of entrepreneurs?
- there is little support for entrpreneurs?
- entrepreneurs must pay more for essentials like insurance and health insurance (if they can get it)...?
- entrepreneurs should have certain (stereotypical) personality traits?

I wonder.

Changing seasons

The weather is really weird. Hot. Then cold. Then pouring with rain. And more rain.

20100112 - today's date

School starts tomorrow. Now it's High School A.N.D Primary School. Time flies - it feels like yesterday when I took my eldest to Grade 1 and had to swallow away some tears.
Back to NORMAL. I adore the time spent with my kids, however it does not leave much time for my stuff.

I think I need more structure to my day, otherwise I browse and procrastinate all day. A time table for Mommy at home.

Reach high in 2010

Excited today

Two things:

1. I took my son (10) to watch AVATAR today in 3D and we were riveted. Brilliant movie. Spectacular special effects. [I'm not always one for fantasy movies, but this one was fantastic] - I want a red dragon too ^_^

2. I have received my new book today - all the way from Canada - it's Michael Bungay Staniers' book: Get Unstuck and get Going. (http://www.getunstuckandgetgoing.com/).
The preparatoty e-course and additional info is absolutely brilliant - cannot wait to get STUCK into the book.

3. The third thing: have in earnest started to look for a job. In case you were wondering.

Theme update

###
I have given my 2010 projects more thought and have combined them and I am left with 3 major themes for the year.

###
The themes are the following:
- Home (need to renovate a bit and clear a lot of clutter)
- Body (eat healthy, move more)
- Wealth (decide whether to get a job or start my own business)

###
The three themes have specific action plans, ideas, to do lists, etc attached to them to assist me to stick to them.

###
Also, I read a post from BridgeMaker today (link: http://www.thebridgemaker.com/a-12-month-plan-to-have-an-amazing-2010/ ) and he advises to choose a topic for every month of the year. A lovely idea, that way you plan conciously.

###
Good luck with your projects for the year.
